Cheshire Moon Inc. is a nonprofit organization created for and dedicated to improving access to arts and music education and performances. We create collaborative live event opportunities for professional, pre-professional, and student artists through performances, community events, and educational programs. Proceeds from these efforts are donated to classrooms and extra curricular programs that help keep the arts alive in our public schools.
Through scholastic arts programs like Dancescape Ed – in which Dancescape’s roster of talented performers and choreographers teach dance in local schools - Cheshire Moon is bringing the dance community together to support the next generation of artists, helping to alleviate the lack of arts education funding and support, and helping to create jobs for artists. To date, we have funded programming that has positively impacted more than 6,000 students in Southern California.
Our biggest annual event is Dancescape. May 8, 2013 marked our 15th production of Dancescape. In honor of this milestone, this year's show was held at the gorgeous Club Nokia, located in the LA Live complex in downtown Los Angeles.
The show
was hosted by Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, winner of the most recent season of "So You Think You Can Dance." He was joined by more than 300 dancers from stage and screen, listed on our Performers page.
Dancescape is a benefit dance concert that showcases both established and
up-and-coming dancers and choreographers in Los Angeles while raising funds for arts programs in our public schools. It brings together students, dance enthusiasts and professionals alike in a celebration of talent and passion that gives back to the community. 100% of the profits from Dancescape productions are donated to arts and music education programs in local schools via classroom funding proposals and individual grants.
